High Power Laboratory

Czech Republic:

Power Source for the High-Power Laboratory: Two short-circuit generators, 2500 MVA each
Possible Power Frequency: 50 Hz and DC
Max MVA / kV / kA: 5000 / 120 / 280 kA for 2.5 s
Test Bays: Laboratory has six test bays for MV apparatus and three open air
areas for HV apparatus.

Testing Capabilities:
• Short-circuit making and breaking tests (7,2 kV/80 kA; 36 kV/20 kA), capacitive
current switching tests
• Short-circuit withstand tests on MV and HV (up to 280 kA/2,5 s; 550 kAp)
• Tests on load-break switches (up to 36 kV)
• Breaking capacity tests on MV fuses (up to 40 kA/40.5 kV)
• Internal arcing tests on MV switchgears and compact substations (up to 72 kA)
• Power arc tests on insulator sets (up to 63 kA)
• Short-circuit tests on arrestors (up to 63 kA)
• Short-circuit tests of power transformers (up to 40 MVA 3-ph)
• DC Tests (2 kV up to 80 kA; 4 kV up to 40 kA)

Short-circuit tests can be carried out on all MV and HV components such as switchgear, transformers, line traps, disconnectors, earthing switches, surge arresters, fuses, cables and accessories. Laboratory has a special installation for testing of insulator sets and HV disconnectors (both horizontal and pantograph).
Accredited for IEC but also GOST & ANSI.

Berlin (Germany):

Power Source and Ratings: 6 single phase transformers and one three phase transformer connected to the 220 kV grid 2 three-phase 1200 MVA short-circuit generators Frequency from 16.6 Hz up to 50 Hz, Max. MVA: 2400, Max. kA: 200 kA, 1 sec.

Low Voltage Laboratory – IPH (Germany)

11 Test bays for testing of all kind of industrial low voltage equipment. Special testing facilities for DC testing and in-line testing. Independent tests according to LOVAG agreement; the laboratory is accredited by ASTA Intertek and is a recognized Test laboratory of the German Certifying Body VDE.
High current testing facilities: High continuous current up to 40 kA at 15 Hz to 65 Hz for temperature rise tests

High Voltage Laboratory

Czech Republic:

Testing Capabilities:
High-voltage laboratory is designed for testing of LV and MV components for dielectric, temperature rise, mechanical, IP, noise and other tests. AC Sources up to 100 kV, LI up to 380 kV (20 kJ), temperature-rise test transformers up to 20 kA 3 phase and 40 kA 1-phase 50 Hz. Specialized in low voltage power panels, distribution transformers and fuses.

Berlin (Germany):

Main Test Hall: 24 m length x 26 m width x 18 m height
Dielectric testing facilities: Laboratory is equipped with an AC voltage source up to 750 kV, an impulse generator up to 2.4 MVpk, a DC generator up to 300 kVdc and all required measuring system for AC, LI, SI, PD, RIV, temperature rise, capacitance, tan ∂ and others.
Cable Testing: Type testing on MV and HV cable and accessories up to 500 kV according to international and special requirements. 3 phase supplying system for submarine cable systems available. Test line for Prequalification tests for cable systems up to 500 kV.
Mobile Test Equipment: 3 test trailers for commissioning tests up to 500 kV on cable systems, transformers, rotating machines, switchgears components and other equipment. Monitoring activities and Partial Discharge measurements.

Mannheim (Germany):

Main Test Hall:
• Indoor Hall: 35 m length x 25 m width x 15 m height
• Outdoor test facilities: 100 m length x 80 m width x 30 m height
HVDC Testing Hall: Hall size 60m x 26m x 21m (LxWxH) with up to 3 independent areas, 26m x 20m each, separated by movable walls.
4 test lines for prequalification tests on cable systems up to 600 kV with flexible layout (concrete tunnel, pipelines, etc…)
5 HVDC Generators: 1 x 800 kV; 2 x 1.200 kV and 2 x 1.600 kV; 20 mA

600 kV AC Source
Dielectric Testing Facilities: Laboratory is equipped with an AC voltage source up to 1.2 MV, two impulse generators up to 4.8 MV, a DC generator up to 1.3 MV and all required measuring system for AC, LI, SI, PD, RIV, temperature rise, capacitance, tan ∂ and others.
Pollution/Climatic Test Facilities: Test room for testing according to IEC 60507 up to 600 kV AC/DC (test voltage). 5 test chambers for ageing tests with humidity and salt fog on insulators according to IEC 62217 up to 120 kV AC/DC. Climatic test chamber -40°C to +50°C and humidity above 95%.
Tests Performed on Insulators, Arresters, Bushings, Cable Terminations: Complete design and/or type tests on: insulators, bushings, surge arresters, power capacitors, cables and cable terminations.
Cable Testing: Type testing on MV and HV cable and accessories up to 220 kV according to international and special requirements. Long ageing test on XLPE MV cables. 5 test lines for Prequalification tests for cable systems up to 400 kV with flexible layout (concrete tunnel, pool with salt water etc…).
