High Power Laboratory – Changwon

Power Source for the HP Laboratory:
Three short-circuit generators with 2500 MVA in test cell respectively.
Possible Power Frequency: 50 Hz or 60 Hz
Max. MVA: 7500 MVA
Direct Short-circuit Test: 40.5 kV, 80 kA
Synthetic Short-circuit Test: 550 kV, 80 kA, Full-pole
Test Bays: High power Laboratory fits out with 2 large test cells to test high voltage electrical apparatus up to 1100 kV and 7 test cells for testing medium voltage apparatus up to 52 kV. Customers are eligible to use 9 assembly halls.
Synthetic Installation:  Full-pole circuit breakers up to 1100 kV
Majority of Tests:
• Short-circuit tests
• Short-line fault tests
• Out-of-phase making and breaking tests
• Short-time and peak withstand current tests

Single short-circuit generator with 500 MVA in test cell.

Test Bays: Laboratory is equipped with 2 test cells for testing medium and low voltage apparatus.

High Voltage Laboratory – Changwon

Lightning impulse tests up to 3200 kV, Switching impulse tests up to 2400 kV, AC voltage tests up to 1500 kV, DC voltage tests up to 1000 kV and PD & RIV tests up to 1000 kV

High-voltage Switchgear and Controlgear, High-voltage Circuit-Breakers, Automatic Circuit Reclosers, Disconnectors and Earthing Switches, High-voltage Switches, Switch-Fuse Combinations, Sectionalizers, High-voltage Fuses, Power Transformers, Reactors, Metal-oxide Surge Arresters, Insulators, Power Cable and Accessories, etc.
Temperature Rise Testing Capabilities: Three-phase continuous current tests up to 8000 A, 60 Hz
Cable Testing Capabilities:
Up to 500 kV for Type test, Up to 36 kV for Type test and PQ test
– Test loop is equipped with 2 lines for 6000 A, 2 lines for 5000 A, 7 lines for 3000 A and 8 lines for 2000 A
Surge Arrester Testing Capabilities:
12 kV max. per element, Arrester class SH, SM, SL, DH, DM, DL
Ageing Tests: Under conditions of temperature and humidity control, UV radiation, electric field, wet and salt fog for polymer insulators, arresters.

High Voltage Laboratory – Ansan

Dimension of Main Test Hall:

Dielectric Test Capabilities:
Lightning impulse tests up to 600 kV, AC voltage tests up to 300 kV, DC voltage tests up to 100 kV and PD tests up to 100 kV at 60 Hz
Ageing Tests:
Under conditions of temperature and humidity control, UV radiation, electric field, wet and salt fog for polymer insulators, arresters.
EMC Tests:
– Emission : Radiated (30 MHz ~ 6 GHz), Conducted emissions (150 kHz ~ 30 MHz), Harmonic, Flicker
– Immunity : Radiated (80 MHz ~ 6 GHz), Conducted radio frequency (150 kHz ~ 80 MHz), ESD (15 kV), EFT/Burst (4 kV), Surge (6 kV), Magnetic fields Immunity (1 kA/m), etc.
IEC 61850 Conformance Test:
Server, Client, Merging Unit, SCL tool, GOOSE performance
Other Testing Activities Offered: Insulators, bushings, cable terminations, aluminum/copper bus, etc.

CT and VT Testing Capabilities:
Up to 4000 A for conventional and electronic CT,

Inspection Services: Witnessing of type and acceptance tests for LV components at accredited manufacturers laboratories all over the world.
